T i p s o n V i n t a g e S h o p p i n g There are two golden rules to vintage shopping that should always be kept in mind: #1 - TRY IT ON. Vintage clothing are based on European sizing. You will most likely have to try the garment on. Shoes are usually smaller versions of today's standard sizing. A size 8 in vintage shoes may be a 6 1/2 today. Remember that most items can be tailored to your specs, and at Color Explosion we will even do the alterations for you while you wait. Found a pair of great trousers with huge bell-bottoms? You can have them tapered for the tailored look you seek. #2 - CHECK 4 STAINS/HOLES/DISCOLORATION The easiest way to detect a hole or tear is to hold your garment up to a light. You should also check for stains and discoloration. New stains or deodorant tracks come out easily but old stains are set in for good, and washing can damage the fabric. If it’s a small spot or is tucked away in a place where it can’t be seen, the item is still good to go.A standard sizing chart has been provided so you will be more likely to get a garment that fits you well.
